Rumor has it that the new Volkswagen EV concept coming to the 2016 Consumer Electronic Show might very well be the spanking new electric version of the classic Microbus with a single-charge range of more than 300 miles.

The first teaser image you see above features a boxy shape which fuels definitely fuels the Microbus rumors. The  illuminated grille and squinting headlights suggest a more futuristic design and design cues that pay homage to the classic ride. Volkswagen’s Chairman will debut the EV during his CES keynote on January 5, focusing on “the latest developments in electromobility as well as the next generation of connectivity.”
