After Nest acquired Dropcam for $555 million last year, the long wait for what their home monitoring system would look like ended last week when Droid-Life posted leaked images and details of their first joint product. Nest officially unveiled their new home monitoring camera, the Nest Cam wireless camera. You can say Nest Cam looks like the earlier Dropcam models. The new home monitoring system shoots videos in 1080p, a magnetic base with a tripod mount, eight built-in infrared LEDs, and better night vision ability. Nest also introduced an overhauled mobile app for both iOS and Android. Users will get a new home screen for quick access information of what’s going on in your home from all Nest’s three devices.

Nest also introduced an overhauled mobile app for both iOs and Android and its available today. The new app does not only give you access to the history recorded footage, it comes with a bunch of new features. Users will get a new home screen for quick access information of what’s going on in your home from all Nest’s three devices. The app will also let know you when something is going on in your house by changing the color of the green ring that surrounds your home icon to yellow or red. The Nest Cam app can also be used to pair nest devices in a room. Users will be able to use the quick buttons for listing and talking back or use the Enhance feature to zoom in on portions of a video. If you don’t have a Nest Aware subscription, the app will help you record an emergency clip. For those of us that still own and use the company’s old Dropcam, the new Nest Cam wireless camera app will work with it too.

Just like every home monitoring system should, the new Nest cam lets you live stream videos to your mobile devices and a CDR (Cloud video Recording) that can record up to 30 days of footage is you have their $10 a month Nest Aware subscription. You can order the new Nest Cam today for $199 or £159 in UK, it starts shipping next week in the US and early July in the UK.
