Ok, so we’ve all heard of Wi-Fi, we know how to use it, but do we really understand what it is? Let’s go back to basics in my first video – All about Wi-Fi.
I explain what it is, how to set it up on your device,how you would use proxy settings,as well as what the different IP settings mean, and why you would use each one. I also explain how to check your Wi-Fi strength and what the letters and numbers under the security heading mean. Finally I tell you how to add a Wi-Fi network, and scan for available Wi-Fi networks in your area.
So let’s add a little fun fact to the mix – When Wi-Fi first came about, it was advertised at one point with the slogan “The Standard for Wireless Fidelity”. Wi-Fi DOES NOT however stand for Wireless Fidelity,as legends say.
There were several names thought of before the name Wi-Fi was decided on, including Trapeze, Dragonfly and Hornet! Imagine saying your using your Dragonfly-enabled device to check your emails?! Almost happened!
