In 2011, we saw Facebook and Skype work together to bring video chat to Facebook for the web. Even though it took a couple of years and other chat messengers to bring about the change, Facebook Messenger for Android and iOS can now make video calls over data or Wifi. On the Facebook Messenger app, you can now tap on the visible video icon during an existing conversation to start a face-to-face session. The feature is available now in 18 countries (including the UK and the US).
